Montenegro

Here are some of my favourite pictures from my trip to Montenegro starting with Perast, a stunning spot located on the Bay of Kotor. The backdrop of the mountains and the clear blue water in front is spectacular. I visited in early April but it's easy to imagine that this is a desirable swimming spot in the summer.

Budva is a very attractive seaside town with a beautiful and historic old town, clean beaches and plenty of places to eat by the waterside. Again it's very easy to imagine how this place could be bustling in the summer.

The Bay of Kotor is shaped in a very interesting way which means at its shortest point it's only 1km to cross but the road takes a very long route around the whole of the lake which which must be nearer 30km. To make the crossing quicker its therefor necessary to take the short ferry ride but this is another opportunity to take in more of the spectacular views.

The walled town of Kotor is a World Heritage Site and has many historic places to explore. Its old town has a maze of narrow streets leading to many churches and other places of interest. Kotor is shadowed by some awesome mountains which many people apparently climb, unsurprisingly this takes many hours to do and I would imagine a lot of fitness!

The private resort of Sveti Stefan, not far from Kotor - this is as near as I could get, I'm sure it's amazing inside!
